Should I Have A Blog Or A WebsiteShould I have a blog or a website?  Well, five years ago that may have been a debate. Today the difference between a blog and a website has all but disappeared.  Blogs can be every bit as visually stimulating and contain much of the same interactive benefits of a traditional website. Blogs of yore were long pages of daily journal like writing with little sensory appeal.  They had almost mirror like similarities between other blogs as far as layouts and formats.

Blogs have come a long way.  In fact a blog is a website so if you’re trying to make a distinction the battle will be hard fought.

Your blog can have static pages that can do anything from housing a photo gallery to creating a forum for your users/customers.  Frequent blog posts also offer your readers an opportunity to comment, creating  a valuable dialogue between you and your visitors.  Blogs have grown to include all of the elements we like about traditional web pages, with the added platform of the blog post itself.

Why would you want this element on your website?

The fact of the matter is this: search engines prefer content rich sites, updated frequently that don’t contain overwhelming amounts of code. That is to say that they would rather you consistently update your page often by some means (like blogging) than have a graphically advanced site.   Have lots of fresh quality content on the page in text is necessary for search rankings.

Did you know Google cannot read what is inside of images or elements like Adobe Flash?

Your website might look great but it will stand little chance of high search rankings without well written content on the page.   This is something to bear in mind when designing your site.  You want to have your website appearing on Google right?  See for yourself what they like to see in a website.

So should I have a blog or a website?

For the minor differences between the two, blogs are better.  No doubt about it!  They are inherently more interactive, generally contain the best type of content, and lack the complexities that boggle newcomers to website ownership.  Having a website should be easy. Having a blog is easy!  Once it is installed properly, adding new content is simple and doesn’t require complex coding.  Blogging has brought the ease of the mainlining a website to the masses.
